PG Department of Sociology
The Sociology Department started in 2013 and has become a place for academic excellence. The undergraduate program teaches the basics of sociological theories, research methods, and modern issues. They cover a wide range of topics, from small individual interactions to big societal structures. In 2020, a Postgraduate programme was introduced that focuses on advanced sociological studies like social policy, global perspectives, and emerging trends. The department believes in diversity and exposes students to different sociological perspectives, like feminist, post-colonial, and critical theories. This allows graduates to have a deep understanding of society in their studies and careers. The programme also has subsidiaries in Journalism and Political Science, which gives students a well-rounded education and lets them explore the connections between sociology, media, and politics. The department encourages research activities and gives students opportunities to contribute to sociological discussions through seminars, workshops, and collaborative projects.
