On June 26, 2024, a Public Hearing was held at the Cherumundam Panchayat Conference Hall regarding the Banglamkunn- Ovungal Mini Bypass development project as a part of the Social Impact Assesment study conducted by PG Department of Sociology, Noble Women’s College, Manjeri. The meeting started at 11:00 AM and ended at 12:30 PM, with more than 50 local residents attending. Key officials present included Shamsudheen P., the Thahasildar, Sreelakshi KC , Assistant Engineer from the Public Works Department (PWD), the Overseer, Panchayat President Kalleri Mymoona, Anganwadi Worker, and Ward Members .

The purpose of the public hearing was to discuss how the bypass project would affect the community of the project area. Sreelakshi KC began by outlining the agenda, stressing the project's importance for improving local infrastructure. Shamsudheen P. then presented details about the project, including plans for acquiring land, building the bypass, and the expected benefits for the area once it's finished.

During the discussion, residents shared their concerns about the project. One major concern was that some families might have to move or lose their property because of where the bypass would go. Many residents were worried about how they would be compensated and where they would live. Officials responded by promising to take these concerns seriously and to include residents in the planning and building of the bypass. They also said they would try to minimize how many people would have to move and make sure everyone affected was treated fairly.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abdussalam M. P., SIA Coordinator summarized what had been discussed. The meeting showed how important it is to talk with the public when making big changes to the area. The government will now look at all the feedback they got and make any changes needed to the project plan. They will also keep talking with residents to make sure everyone's concerns are addressed.
