The PG Department of English, in collaboration with the Department of Malayalam and the Readers Forum, successfully hosted Noble Reads on Thursday, 5th September 2024, at 11:30 AM in the College Courtyard. This event, part of the Noble Women's College Book Lovers Community initiative, gathered enthusiastic participation from students across multiple departments.
The event commenced with an introduction and warm welcome by Ms. Shahada KP, Assistant Professor, Department of English, who set the tone by emphasizing the importance of literature and community reading. The inauguration was led by Dr. U Saidalvi, Principal of Noble Women's College, who highlighted the value of book discussions and literary reflections in nurturing a vibrant reading culture among students.
This was followed by a felicitation speech by Mr. Sharafudheen A, Head of the Department of Malayalam, and Ms. Rajani, the college librarian, both encouraging students to engage deeply with literary works and explore their passion for reading. After the inauguration, Ms. Rajani made a generous donation of 13 books to the college library, a moment that was met with appreciation and applause.
A key feature of the event was the "Letter to Favourite Character" activity, where students shared letters they had written to their favorite literary characters. Notable contributors included Minnath and Naeema from the Department of English, along with Haleema, Nitha, and other psychology students, who delivered heartwarming reflections through their letters.
The event continued with engaging book reviews, where Hezza Fathima (Psychology), Fathima Sahla (English), and Husna (Psychology) presented insightful critiques of selected works, sparking a lively discussion among the audience.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Hezza Fathima, Department of Psychology, expressing gratitude to all attendees, faculty, and organizers for their support in making the event a success.
Noble Reads was a remarkable success, reflecting the dedication of the departments involved and the passion of the students for literature and reading.
