Program Report: Seminar on "Let's Act on Your Commitments: End Child Labour"
On June 12, 2024, the PG Department of Sociology observed World Day Against Child Labour by organizing a seminar titled "Let's Act on Your Commitments: End Child Labour." The event was held at the Seminar Hall from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The seminar commenced with a warm welcome by the Head of the Department, Dr. Abdusalam M P. Following the welcome address, the honorable Principal, U. Saidalvi, inaugurated the event. In his inaugural speech, Principal Saidalvi shared valuable insights regarding the significance of World Day Against Child Labour and emphasized the need for collective action to eradicate this social issue.
The featured speaker for the seminar was
Adv. Fawas P. Faizal, (a legal probation officer from the District Child Protection Unit in Malappuram. ) Adv. Faizal provided an in-depth analysis of the current state of child labour and discussed various legal frameworks and protection mechanisms in place to combat this problem. His presentation was both informative and thought-provoking, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the legal and social dimensions of child labour.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in the discussion. They posed insightful questions and shared their perspectives, making the seminar a dynamic and engaging experience. The interactive nature of the session helped students to gain a deeper appreciation of the complexities surrounding child labour and the importance of taking a stand against it.
